Our patient, Jean (not her real name) arrived at The Pod with cracked hands from a very bad outbreak of eczema. She had spent quite some time trying various alternative remedies along with some allopathic medications.
Eczema frequently includes very dry patches of skin which can make the skin so fragile that it cracks very easily (as in Jean's case). The raised skin of eczema may also resemble that of severe sunburn or a peeling blister or callus and in some cases, may even cause raw and open wounds. In others, peeling skin reveals broken skin or open blisters. These should be carefully treated to avoid introducing a bacterial or viral infection, which ozone treats due to its disinfectant properties. In some severe cases of eczema, cracking of the skin, oozing and bleeding can become dangerous as infection is quick likely to set in due to the skin wounds.
While Ozone can irritate dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, when applied in low enough doses and over a longer period of time, some relief can be attained in these patients. Ozone is also a natural disinfectant, so it stood to reason that having oxygen therapy would at least the very least clear up (and in turn prevent) any infection. We could see that there was already some infection in her hands and so we offered Jean Pod sessions to help boost her immune system as well as Ozone Gel to use on her hands at night. While waiting for her first Pod session, Jean applied the Ozone Gel and wrapped her hands in clingwrap (we said gloves, Jean!) at bedtime and within three days she had already seen a marked difference.

Before Treatment (already 3 days use of Ozone Gel) |
You can see that she had taped up areas of her hand where the eczema was starting to crack beneath the creases in her fingers.
Three weeks later, Jean was thrilled to see how the infected areas had cleared up. While the skin on her hands were now very dry, she told us that she had more movement and could open and close her hands without feeling like they were going to burst open.

After Three Treatments (The redness of her hand is because she had just got out of the Pod and was still quite hot) |
