Menopause doesn't need to be a problem

Menopause can be kept under control with good diet, vitamins and ozone therapy at The Ozone Pod in Fourways
So menopause is taking over your life and you’re feeling like a woman (not).

You’re hot when other people are cold, you snap at your loved ones and in the next minute you’re crying or laughing and don’t even think about getting a good nights’ sleep?!

Welcome to your new life!  The menopausal one.

The good news is it isn’t all downhill from here.

Many women don’t take Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for fear of getting breast cancer as there have been many articles written linking breast cancer with HRT.  Additional scares of having a stroke and or blood clots also stop women from going on to some form of HRT or ERT (Estrogen Replacement Therapy).  They start looking for alternative ways to handle those nasty hot flashes, mood swings and diminishing sex drive.

The effect of soy isoflavones (if you’re not intolerant of soy) on menopausal symptoms is promising, but not clear.  Many vitamins and supplements on the market, such as black cohosh also promise relief from symptoms but as yet nothing has been proven.

James Sloane, herb-man extraordinaire, sums it up in a report where he writes that it is important during any form of hormonal imbalance to keep the adrenal glands healthy.  Although the ovaries are the primary source for the production of progesterone, estrogen and testosterone, the adrenal glands too produce these hormones.  The adrenals do this to help maintain hormone balance in the body, and to help act as a cushion for when the ovaries start to shut down during menopause.

Stimulants such as caffeine, ephedrine and nicotine, not to mention stress and steroids are the biggest killers of the adrenal glands.  So avoid them, ladies!  And because the adrenal glands use more Vitamin C than any other part of the body, this should be supplemented.

Don't use synthetic Vit C.  Instead, go for the real stuff like Amla Berries (Indian Gooseberries) which are packed with Vit C.  In fact, they are the highest herbal source of Vit C, followed by Camu Camu and Acerola Cherries.

The next thing those adrenals need is Pantothenic Acid which is best found in Bee Pollen… but where to find that!  There are various herbs which also have a strengthening effect on the adrenal glands, the best being Schisandra Berry, Licorice Root, Suma, Siberian Ginseng and Nettle Leaf.

We also suggest changing your diet to include as much organic food as possible.  Unfortunately many meats, poultry and veggies found in local supermarkets come from farms where antibiotics, pesticides and GMOs are prevalent.  These toxic foods put more stress on your already overstressed body and the adrenal glands (and thyroid too) go into panic mode.

At The Ozone Pod we have successfully assisted pre-menopausal and menopaused women deal with their symptoms using Ozone Therapy and good supplements like Nutrilite’s Siberian Ginseng (which we supply).  While Ozone never ‘cures’ menopause, the enriched oxygen in the bloodstream assists the adrenal glands to cope with the overload of stress and stimulants which most women just don’t (or can’t) cut down on.  Once the ozone has oxidised the pathogens, the liver takes over to flush them out.  Once again Ozone to the rescue – with the bloodstream filled with life-giving oxygen, the liver is able to do its trash-disposal without straining itself.  The increased oxygen also helps the body to regulate its temperature, so hot flashes, while not completely arrested, become shorter in duration and easier to handle.  Sleep deprivation also becomes a thing of the past as ozone assists in the release of natural melatonin.

So, ladies, take back your life and don’t let menopause affect it.

De-Stress and Detox

The lymphatic system plays a vital role in the body’s fight against disease.  It is made up of clear ‘tubes’ filled with clear lymphatic fluid.  If either the tubes, ducts or the nodes get clogged up, it can compromise the body’s immune system.

Lymphatic Drainage is a type of massage which stimulates the lymphatic system into releasing blockages and assists the body in removing toxins, metabolic waste, bacteria and other pathogens through natural circulation in the lymph system.  Exercise is important in keeping the lymphatic system running as is massage, some adjunct therapies such as cranio-sacral therapy and, naturally, our area of expertise, Ozone Therapy.

Along with Ozone Hyperthermia Therapy which oxidizes these pathogens, The Pod’s DeStress-Detox Programme gives the body a huge boost in ridding itself of toxins while at the same time, it gently introduces enriched oxygen into the bloodstream.

Who Should Get a Lymph Drainage Massage?

Anybody! Everybody!
If you’ve been feeling off-colour or you’ve been ill, if you’ve just had surgery, or you’re a sportsperson who trains hard and has suffered an injury, lymph drainage can help to get you back on track.  In fact, it assists patients who suffer from CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), fibromyalgia, and many other physical conditions.  Many patients who have just had surgery will find that their lymph nodes are swollen as huge demands are placed on them for recovery.  Deep tissue massage at this stage is not recommended, which is why our Aromatherapist at The Pod will use effleurage massage techniques during the De-Stress massage part of the treatment.

What is a De-Stress/Detox Treatment?

For the first half hour of the treatment, the Aromatherapist will concentrate on gentle massage using a detoxifying blend of pure essential oils.  She will concentrate on stimulating the lymph nodes where the patient has the most need.

After a short rest, the patient will be put into a hyperthermic pod by a Practitioner, where ozone will be introduced.  Steam in the pod opens the pores of the skin allowing transdermal absorption of the ozone into the bloodstream.

We recommend this treatment regime once every second week, with alternating Ozone and/or Aromatherapy sessions in between.

Bring in the New Year with Good Health!

As we say farewell to 2015, we would like to take a moment to thank every one of our patients for putting their health in our hands.

From humans to animals, our Ozone Therapy has been effective in treating many of the illnesses, afflictions and diseases that our patients have presented with at The Ozone Pod this year.

Dr Mitch and Trisch will be attending the American Ozonotherapists Association's week long course in the new year, bringing back new treatment protocols and updated modalities so that we can give even better care to our patients and increase our stable of adjunct therapies at our wellness centre.

We wish you all a very HEALTHY and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ozone Treatment helps Eczema Patient

Our patient, Jean (not her real name) arrived at The Pod with cracked hands from a very bad outbreak of eczema.  She had spent quite some time trying various alternative remedies along with some allopathic medications.

Eczema frequently includes very dry patches of skin which can make the skin so fragile that it cracks very easily (as in Jean's case). The raised skin of eczema may also resemble that of severe sunburn or a peeling blister or callus and in some cases, may even cause raw and open wounds.  In others, peeling skin reveals broken skin or open blisters. These should be carefully treated to avoid introducing a bacterial or viral infection, which ozone treats due to its disinfectant properties.  In some severe cases of eczema, cracking of the skin, oozing and bleeding can become dangerous as infection is quick likely to set in due to the skin wounds.

While Ozone can irritate dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, when applied in low enough doses and over a longer period of time, some relief can be attained in these patients.  Ozone is also a natural disinfectant, so it stood to reason that having oxygen therapy would at least the very least clear up (and in turn prevent) any infection.  We could see that there was already some infection in her hands and so we offered Jean Pod sessions to help boost her immune system as well as Ozone Gel to use on her hands at night.  While waiting for her first Pod session, Jean applied the Ozone Gel and wrapped her hands in clingwrap (we said gloves, Jean!) at bedtime and within three days she had already seen a marked difference.

Before Treatment (already 3 days use of Ozone Gel)
The photo's at left are from before her first treatment on 30 November (after she had already started using the Ozone Gel) and her third treatment on 19 December 2015.

You can see that she had taped up areas of her hand where the eczema was starting to crack beneath the creases in her fingers.

Three weeks later, Jean was thrilled to see how the infected areas had cleared up.  While the skin on her hands were now very dry, she told us that she had more movement and could open and close her hands without feeling like they were going to burst open.

After Three Treatments
(The redness of her hand is because she
had just got out of the Pod and was still quite hot)
Jean will continue on a maintenance program, along with our recommendation of using various essential oil blends to moisturise her hands without causing any further harm or irritation.  We have also suggested she sees a hand therapist for mobility exercises to get the muscles working again. And naturally, to keep up with her Ozone treatments!

IS OZONE SAFE?

IS OZONE SAFE?
Many of our first-time patients ask this question.
5.5 MILLION Ozone treatments say YES!

The German Medical Society reported that 384,775 patients were treated with 5,579,238 applications of ozone (an average of 14 treatments per patient) and that the side effect rate was only 0.00005 per application.

Let’s talk about the side effects.

These are minor inconveniences and are short-lived, so those who do get a headache after their first session, or who might ‘feel lousy’ afterwards, are merely oxidising their inner garbage.

During detoxification, your body might start mimicking all your previous diseases.  Imagine a cell in your body as an onion.  As you peel it, layer for layer, the ozone starts removing the toxicity in your body.  As each layer is peeled away, the ozone removes the leftover remnants of diseases, pollutants, drugs, dead bacteria and viruses which have not been flushed out.

While they are inert, their chemical signatures still abound.
As they are then oxidised and start leaving the body, one might experience similar symptoms to what you first encountered.

But the more treatments, the more peeling takes place, and eventually one is at the core of the cell which now is well oxygenated and therefore able to tackle any new pollutants.

At The Pod, we treat our patients gently, increasing the dosage of Ozone slowly and spread over a longer period of time.  This allows the body to flush out toxins, rebuild, flush out, rebuild and so on until the patient once again regains their health without suffering any severe side effects.

By comparison, look at how many people die from drug-related side effects each day throughout the world.  As an example, in the USA, more than 40 people will die from overdosing on prescription drugs, of which just over 50% is through accidental ingestion of a combination of drugs.

So a very slight headache from ozone therapy surely is encouragement that Ozone Therapy is SAFE.

Water - The Source of Life

There is huge hype around Reverse Osmosis and Ozonated Water at the moment.  Water tanks are popping up in supermarkets all around our country and people are filling plastic (sometimes not BPA free either!) containers and paying outrageous prices for water which is only good to use in your car battery or steam iron.
When tap water goes through the reverse osmosis process, EVERYTHING, including all the good minerals and trace elements are removed.  This leaves dead water - like we said, good enough only to put in your car battery.  Reverse osmosis water serves no beneficial use to the human body.  Our bodies cannot survive without water, and especially not dead battery water.  We need the minerals and trace elements that water collects as it filters through the earths natural rock to keep our bodies healthy.
Ozonated water, on the other hand, is only good if one drinks it AS SOON as it has been ozonated.  Ozone's half life in water is less than 30 minutes.  Ozonated water has amazing healing properties for the sick and infirm, but we would suggest you purchase a small handheld ozonater for this purpose - ask us for a quote as we supply them to our patients.
So, when companies purport to bring you health in a bottle with reverse osmosis and ozonated water, their marketing team are, in our opinion, doing a good job on fooling you.

Drinking filtered, or prepared water, is far better than buying reverse osmosis water and some of the bigger bottling companies are already supplying that into the market, but again, there are drawbacks.  Many of these companies add in minerals, flouride and other items, so be sure to check the labels on the bottle before drinking.
We have researched the water industry quite thoroughly, especially as South African tap water (which is supposed to be good) was a huge concern to us in our practice.  We did not want to give our patients high particles of fluoride, uranium, effluent and toxic medical residues which are found floating in our municipal water.  If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at Carte Blanche's report on the state of our water.
We only use reverse osmosis water for the sauna elements in our Pods as we cannot have Ozone mixing with the abovementioned toxins while we are healing you.  BUT, when we give you that glass of water to drink after your session, we're giving you SOUL WATER - THE SOURCE OF LIFE.

We bring our bottled water in from a natural spring, deep in the Magaliesburg Mountains of South Africa. Here the water is filtered naturally as it sinks to the underground spring, leaving it with just the right amount of minerals and trace elements your body requires.  The spring has been tested and accredited by SANBWA and has enjoyed supplying many restaurants, hotels and even a cruise-liner with all their drinking water.
Not only do we sell various sizes of bottles (in BPA-free bottles), but we have opened a refilling station next to The Pod at The Leaping Frog Shopping Centre, where you can either bring your own containers for filling, or we will deliver to you (the greater Fourways area).
We can also assist you with choosing a water station suitable for your home needs.

Do you have an Autoimmune Disease (and how can you heal it?)

Automimmune Disease, Ozone, Enriched Oxygen, The Ozone Pod, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis
We have had many patients with Autoimmune Diseases doing ozone hyperthermia therapy with us over the past month, so much so, that we thought to write about the effects of the treatment on their diseases.

What is an Autoimmune Disease?

Plainly speaking, an autoimmune disease is an immune response cause by systemic inflammation leading your body to attack itself.

While there are many different autoimmune diseases, they are, at their core, all similar in that they attack your own body.  Your immune system keeps you safe in that it can identify any foreign substances which enter your body.  If it deems anything to be of danger to your body, it will produce antibodies to attack these substances.

Unfortunately, those with an autoimmune disease have an immune system which cannot differentiate between an intruder (such as toxins, pathogens, infections) and one's own body, so it mistakes certain of your own cells as harmful substances and in turn these antibodies turn on your own system.

What Causes an Autoimmune Disease?

One certainty is that there is an underlying genetic component to someone developing an autoimmune disease.  Whether or not these genes are turned on is caused by many factors, such as heavy metal toxins, infections, herpes simplex, chronic inflammation and food sensitivities amongst others.

There is a significant link between gluten intolerance and an autoimmune disease which is why diet plays such an important part in managing your disease.

There are many different autoimmune diseases, some are :
- lupus
- rheumatoid arthritis
- type I diabetes
- psoriasis
- multiple sclerosis
- thyroid disease

What Symptoms Should You Look Out For?

Some symptoms of an autoimmune disease are :
- joint pain
- weaknesses in the muscles
- tremors
- dry eyes
- dry mouth
- rapid heartbeat
- unexplained weightloss
- abdominal pain
- hair loss
- fatigue
- multiple miscarriages
- numbness or tingling in hands and feet

How to Treat an Autoimmune Disease?

Firstly, diagnoses MUST be made by a medical doctor and their treatment protocol must be followed at all times.

At The Pod we use various methods of ozone therapy to assist patients with an Autoimmune Disease dependent on the condition being treated.  We never advise patients to 'come off' their medication.

Our Medical Doctor performs Minor Autohemotherapy (bookings essential) and our Ozone Practitioners perform Hyperthermia Therapy and Bagging.

One of our patients, Calvin*, has spent the last 9 years battling pain.  He was diagnosed with lupus.  After seeing many doctors and being treated with antibiotics, pain killers and other medicines, Calvin resorted to alternative therapies in the hopes of ridding his body of the toxins which were slowly killing him.  He arrived at The Pod and, after 10 sessions of hyperthermia therapy, he reported to us that he has been pain-free for the first time in 9 years.

Ozone Therapy, while still in its infancy in South Africa, has been used to treat patients with autoimmune diseases in Europe and the USA for many years.  There have been many reports of successful management of these patients' conditions and as we are slowly proving, as so in South Africa now.
